The Thermapen thermometer features a stainless steel retractable probe that can be easily swiveled 180 degrees into the side of the instrument when not in use. The response time of any thermometer depends on many factors: the mass of the sensor tip, heat transfer, and, more importantly, the state of the substance being measured.
